Psychology Month is an annual campaign to raise awareness about the important role psychologists play in helping individuals and communities flourish.
School psychologists play a significant role in our Catholic schools. Psychological services department staff work closely with school and special education department staff to assess for cognitive deficits, learning issues, developmental issues, behavioral difficulties and social-emotional problems in school-aged children. These types of assessments are important in order for students to access special education support. Staff are also involved in consultations, prevention/intervention and education concerning psychological deficits and mental illness that impede learning and achievement.
During Psychology Month (February 1-29), the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board would like to recognize the hard work and dedication of our Psychological Services Department Staff in supporting the achievement and well-being of all students.
